Mendekati akhir tahun, acara The Game Awards tentu menjadi ajang penghargaan yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh para gamer di seluruh dunia. Dan The Game Awards 2022 juga menjadi momen yang menarik karena banyak game-game favorit gamer yang akan bersaing.
Acara yang diprakarsai oleh Geoff Keighley ini akan segera dilaksanakan pada 8 Desember 2022 mendatang. Dan untuk menyambut acara yang tinggal beberapa minggu tersebut, nominasi untuk kategori-kategori dalam ajang penghargaan tahun inipun kini diumumkan.
Total, akan ada 31 penghargaan yang akan diperebutkan oleh puluhan game yang dirilis dan eksis selama 2022 ini. Untuk menentukan pemenangnya, acara ini akan menggunakan kombinasi suara voting dari juri (90%) dan juga voting dari para fans (10%).
Melihat ke daftar nominasinya, ternyata game eksklusif terbaru PlayStation, God of War Ragnarok yang paling mendominasi. Game buatan Santa Monica Studios ini mengisi hingga 10 nominasi, meninggalkan Elden Ring dan Horizon Forbidden West yang masuk ke 7 nominasi.

Ketiga game tersebut juga akan bertarung untuk memperebutkan mahkota tertinggi ajang penghargaan ini, yaitu ‘Game of the Year’. Penghargaan Game of the Year tahun ini juga memiliki kejutan yang menarik karena game indie Stray juga berhasil masuk menjadi salah satu nominasinya.
Selain itu, tahun The Game Awards 2022 ini akan memperkenalkan penghargaan baru yaitu Best Adaptation Award, penghargaan yang akan mengakui karya-karya adaptasi dari judul video game ke media lain. Kategori ini diisi oleh Arcane: League of Legends , Cyberpunk Edgerunners, The Cuphead Show, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 dan Uncharted.
