Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been a disappointment since its early release because of its performance. Even an NVIDIA RTX 4090 can’t handle the game because it struggles to maintain more than 35 frames per second (fps).
GameStar, a YouTuber using a rig equipped with an RTX 4090, 32GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 9 5900X, couldn’t get smooth performance on Jedi: Survivor at 1440p. Keep in mind that an RTX 4090 is built for 4K. However, that rig could only deliver around 35 to 45 fps, with rare moments reaching 60 fps in some areas at 1440p.
EckhartsLadder on YouTube also faced a similar problem. His computer, equipped with an RTX 3080 Ti, which is a high-end last-gen graphic card that should be able to handle even the latest and heaviest current games, maxed out at around 50 fps. Consequently, the game has earned a “mostly negative” rating on Steam.
To address the performance issues, PureDark uploaded a video showcasing a modded version of the game running at much higher frame rates thanks to a DLSS Frame Generation mod. While the mod increased the game’s frame rate from 45 to 90 fps, it still has some imperfections, such as visual artifacts and incomplete camera integration. Moreover, the mod is not publicly available, and PureDark states that it is more of an experiment at this stage. However, they also mention making progress and trying to replace FSR2 with DLSS to improve image quality.

The significant improvement in game performance resulting from this mod suggests that DLSS 3 support could make a substantial difference, benefiting those who own compatible graphics cards. However, the pool of eligible individuals is relatively small, consisting only of those who own 40-series GPUs and expect superior game performance. Respawn’s lack of DLSS 3 support could be due to AMD sponsorship, as the game supports AMD’s FSR2 but does not provide significant improvements.
Although the game has been patched since its release, it still has some serious flaws.
