Now You Can Add Up to Five Links to Your Instagram Profile. Goodbye to Linktree?

Finally, Instagram users can now add several links to their profile page. It was announced directly by the Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg via his broadcast channel. He said, “You can now add up to five links in your Instagram bio. Probably one of the most requested features we’ve had.”

Previously, you could only add one link to your Instagram bio. However, since we are living in the age of multiple platforms, one link is just not enough. That’s why most people use additional services like Linktree. Linktree allows creators to show links to different platforms on a single and simple page.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, Linktree is a freemium landing page for social media references that was created by Alex Zaccaria, Anthony Zaccaria, and Nick Humphreys. It was launched in 2016. Currently, Linktree claims that it has more than 35 million users worldwide.

Around a year ago, Linktree announced its latest funding round with $110 million of investment from various financial backers, including Index Ventures and Coatue Management. At that time, Linktree was valued at $1.3 billion.

Sadly, with the latest change on Instagram, the future is uncertain for Linktree. For sure, Linktree is more than a list of links. Users could customize the look of the page, with some emphasis on certain links deemed more important than others. With the premium options, users could make the page so much more interesting and engaging – compared to just a list of links.

However, with so many users getting lazier nowadays, it’s certainly more of a hassle to click a link just to see more links. Linktree might want to add more functions to its single landing page. Still, it remains to be seen if Linktree might still be relevant after Instagram allows more links in the bio.
