Spacetop, the world’s inaugural Augmented Reality (AR) Laptop, has been revealed by Sightful following an intensive development period spanning almost three years. Assembled by a team of over 60 spatial computing specialists, including seasoned professionals from renowned companies such as Apple, Microsoft, and Magic Leap, Spacetop marks a significant advancement in personal computing, introducing Augmented Reality into users’ everyday routines seamlessly.
Spacetop leverages AR to remove the physical constraints of standard laptops by using customized hardware and a proprietary spatial environment. The end result is a first-of-its-kind product that allows users to carry with them a massive, private, virtual workspace designed and customized by the user to be their most creative self, no matter where they are—all in a familiar laptop form factor.
“Two worlds sit at a crossroads: Laptops are the centerpiece of our daily working lives, but the technology has not evolved with the modern, work from anywhere, privacy matters, ‘road warrior’ mentality. Meanwhile, Augmented Reality is full of potential and promise, but is yet to find its daily use case. We are at the perfect moment for a significant paradigm shift in a device we all know and love, and Spacetop Early Access is the first step in that journey.” Said Tamir Berliner, CEO and co-founder of Sightful.
The Spacetop represents a unique and innovative approach to laptops. Departing from the conventional clamshell design with a screen and keyboard, this device consists of a full-sized keyboard and a set of glasses, offering users the ability to have multiple screens at their disposal.
Despite weighing less than 1.5 kilograms, the Spacetop is not intended as a gaming laptop. However, its technology holds great potential for PC gamers in the future. Currently, the Spacetop’s keyboard provides excellent connectivity options, including two 10Gbps USB Type-C ports that support 65W fast charging and DisplayPort 1.4 for external screen connections. Additionally, it features a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth, 5G, and Wi-Fi 6 connections.

While the Spacetop itself may seem minimalist, it runs on a customized operating system, resembling the functionality of a Chromebook. This allows seamless compatibility with web apps, making it ideal for tasks such as email, working on Google Docs, watching YouTube, and reading articles.
At present, the Spacetop is exclusively accessible through a selective invitation-only program. Acquiring this cutting-edge device comes with a price tag of $2,000.
